During his visit to Iran on April 23, 2025, Ahmad Mohammad Hussein Qasim Al-Mubraqa, the Iraqi Minister of Youth and Sports, met and held discussions with Ahmad Donyamali, the Iranian Minister of Youth and Sports.
In this meeting, Al-Mubraqa highlighted the sports cooperation between the two countries and stated that currently, each province in Iraq has an international-level stadium.
He also mentioned the new projects being carried out in cooperation with Iranian companies, including the construction of a 60,000-seat stadium in Baghdad.
This stadium, known as "Al-Tajiat" or the "Jewel of Baghdad," is being built by the Iranian company "Bolandpayeh."
The project includes a main stadium with an initial capacity of 60,000 spectators, a secondary 5,000-seat stadium, three training fields, and a four-star hotel.
According to reports, the Iraqi Ministry of Youth and Sports plans to expand the capacity of the Al-Tajiat Stadium to 90,000 seats, making it the largest stadium in the country.
